What is religious freedom and what are its limits.
Everyone should be able to believe whatever they want to believe so long as they respect the right of others to believe whatever they want to believe.
This freedom of religion, and the absolute separation of church and state, was clearly stated in the First Amendment to the U S Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
There is no way to state it more clearly or more absolutely: “Congress shall make no law.”
Religious freedom means that others cannot discriminate against you based on your religion, it does not mean that you are free to discriminate against others based on your religion.
In personal terms: it’s O.K., I don’t mind if you believe things that are not true, provided that you don’t insist that I believe them as well, and especially provided that my own life choices are independent of your false assumptions.
